Description Our haunt is a small around the house type haunt. No walls or doors. You walk down our driveway into the garage where we have a small display, then you go through the backyard with displays, down the side yard, with displays and out to the sidewalk again. Candy is given out at the front door so people do not have to go through the "haunt" if they do not want to. I have added a pnumatic prop for this year. Usually it is static with a few scareactors and my talking bucky.

- Pembroke

-   Morris Street Cemetery

Website N/A
Builder Elizabeth Fletcher, Margaret Penner, Susan Smith
Address Morris Street, Pembroke, Ontario, Canada
Description Although the "sisterhood" have been Halloween enthusiasts forever, our home haunting really began in 1995, when Elizabeth's family moved to a farm in Renfrew County. They had the perfect old farmhouse for a haunt (dirt and stone basement, 2 full stories and an attic you could stand up in!), and a bush that screamed for a haunted hayride. Alas there were no kids in the neighbourhood. Elizabeth's children were young and wanted a true Halloween. The solution, invite their classmates to a home haunt party and have the sisterhood and the cousins help out! It was a great success. Eventually the kids grew older and the haunt moved into nearby Pembroke to Margaret's house, but then Margaret also moved to a farm in the country. In 2003, the home haunt moved to its current location, at Susan's house, in Pembroke Ontario. We had to start from scratch in 2003 (no room for haunted hayride props)and the house haunt moved outdoors (too small a house to haunt indoors). We now have a home haunt that includes a haunted graveyard (the Morris Street Cemetery), a haunted funeral home (the Morris Family Mortuary) that hides a funeral parlour, morgue, insane asylum and dungeon behind its spooky facade, the throne room of Lord Dante Morris (where kids may take as much treats as they dare) and the very spooky Haunted Cornfield. In the past 6 years our haunt has grown each and every year. Last year we had over 800 kids (awesome number for our small town)Its a family affair. The sisterhood have the assistance of Margaret's husband, Marty, Margaret and Elizabeth's now-grown children and their partners, as well as the reluctant participation of the grandparents. We treat Halloween like Christmas. Just like Christmas though it only lasts a day. Our great fun is turning Susan's yard from a non-descript plain-jane yard and house on October 30th into the creepiest place to be on October 31st, only to see it all vanish by noon on November 1st. The neighbours are amazed. The only hint of the location of the Morris Street Cemetery is a small sign on the lawn that goes up on the first of October to let the newbies know where to look. We have a mix of homemade props and illusions as well as store bought props and animatronics. Being from rural Renfrew County, Ontario, Canada we have had to be creative...and we're getting better!Looking forward to posting some pictures and a video this year. This year is going to be our best year ever (and we say that every year!)

=- Stittsville

-   "Ghoul"- bourn Spook Show

Website www.hauntspace.com/ghoul-bourn
Builder Joseph Carbonetto
Address 72 Cherry Drive, Stittsville, Ontario, Canada
Description The Ghoul-bourn Spook Show- Haunt 2010The Ghoul-bourn Haunt was started in 2004 in Stittsville, Ontario as a small front yard display. After 5 years it has now grown to include over 4000 square feet of out-door and indoor props and custom displays of animatronics, static and interactive Halloween amusements. The garage is turned into a dungeon using a specialized wall coverings and chains dropping from the ceiling. This includes 3 animatronics props and actors within the dungeon displays. The entire front yard is converted into a 2000 square foot cemetery complete with zombies rising from the graves and a unique underground fog system which was designed and installed under the lawn last year. When activated, the 1750 Watt system actually gives the effect of the fog seeping out of the ground; with no fog machines or tubes exposed above the ground. This is truly an awesome and creepy
effect for the cemetery. The mission statement of our haunt is two-fold. This was a tribute to my brother Wayne, who fought valiantly against brain cancer for over 14 years. He loved Halloween more than any holiday and when I was a child he would dress up, decorate and create sound effects, props and entertain all the trick-or-treaters in the neighborhoods. I guess this is the first moment I caught the Halloween bug. When he finally passed on October 27th, 2003, his funeral was on (and he would have loved this) Halloween of all dates. I then promised him and his family that we would carry on the tradition of his love for the Hallow’s Eve. Ever since then, it has been a labor of love for us to create and turn our home into the Ghoul-bourn Haunt (Stittsville is in Goulborn Township- hence the “Ghoul-born”). The second tribute to the haunt is in memory of Bruce Evely, the creator and Dungeon master of the Stittsville Haunt. 3 years ago my wife Shelley heard about another haunt display in Stittsville and recommended I visit it to perhaps garner some new
ideas. I was told it was somewhere on the other side of the Trans-Canada trail so one evening I drove around until I found it. What I found was not just a display but a nothing less than a masterpiece of creativity and ingenuity. Bruce and Sherry had dedicated their time over the years to create a monumental display of pneumatics, animatronics and customized props that thousands of people have come to visit each year. Bruce and Sherry committed to raise funds and food for the Ottawa Food Bank each year and have fed thousands in need as result of their tireless efforts in their display. I then became a “groupie” to Bruce and hung around late nights to talk (for hours) about prop creation, design and display. We were “fiendish friends” for the month of October each year, only to retire to our normal lives planning for the next Halloween.Bruce Evely passed away suddenly on August 23rd, 2009.Sherry
Evely has allowed us to purchase a large inventory of the props and displays from the Stittsville haunt this year. We will be incorporating these assets into our displays. I will never come close to what Bruce could do- only hope for a fraction to kindle the genius and artistry of his work. If I can do this; then I hope that Bruce would be proud. We will continue to accept food and monetary donations for the Ottawa Food Bank.We hope you enjoy the displays and your experience at the Ghoul-bourn Spook Show. The Haunt will be open from 7-9 PM on October 29th, 30th and from 6-10PM on October 31st- Halloween. The address is 72 Cherry Drive (look for the signs on Stittsville Main Street, and Cherry Drive is off of Fernbank Road) which is the last house on the left (how fitting) on Cherry Drive. We hope to see you there.
